JOB POSTING

Directory, Recovery and Innovation

CMHA, Vancouver-Fraser Branch is looking for an energetic, entrepreneurial, team-oriented and results driven person with a professional designation and a specialization in Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR)/Recovery to fill our new position of Director, Recovery and Innovation.  The position will lead the department that delivers our recovery-oriented PSR and housing programs.  Vancouver-Fraser Branch was founded in 2015 through the amalgamation of three previously independent non-profit organizations, two of which had been in operation for nearly 60 years.  Through the amalgamation process, the breadth of our recovery-oriented PSR programming expanded to include peer support and navigation, vocational counselling, community integration (clubhouse, volunteering and leisure), and supported transitional and semi-independent living housing. The Branch has chosen the Recovery Centered Clinical System (RCCS) as the model we use to translate the 12 principles of PSR into everyday practice. The successful incumbent will have the opportunity to ensure the principles of PSR are implemented consistently in all of the department’s existing and future programs (using the RCCS model) and will be an advocate for recovery-oriented PSR practice and policies within the Branch and in the broader mental health and substance use sector.

Vancouver-Fraser Branch is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).  The Director is responsible for the continuous quality improvement of the programs in the Department and for ensuring that all of the programs conform with the applicable CARF accreditation standards.

The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in a health or social services field and current professional registration with a recognized association (i.e. Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Vocational Counsellor, Certified Psychosocial Rehabilitation Recovery Practitioner, Clinical Counsellor, etc.).  They will have 7 to 10 years’ experience in progressively more senior leadership roles in not-for-profit and/or public organizations (equivalent education and experience will be considered) and at least 3 years developing and delivering community-based, evidence-based or evidence-informed, recovery-oriented PSR programming for people in recovery from serious mental illness and/or substance use. They will have expert knowledge of PSR principles, the PSR literature and evidence-based PSR programs (especially Individual Placement and Support model of supported employment).  Ideally they will be familiar with the Recovery Centered Clinical System.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to not-for-profit organizations in a union environment.  Experience operating affordable and/or supported housing for people in recovery from serious mental illness is a significant asset. Experience conducting or being on the advisory committees for empirical research is an asset.
